The adventure explaining who I am...

Hello and welcome to Mildly Crunchy Mama!
You’re one of the lucky ones who gets to join me on my journey as I write about what it’s like to live in a tiny house, prepare for a little one, and navigate all the adventures that come along with it. I’ve always loved to write—even if I don’t always feel like I’m very good at it—but my goal with this blog is simple: to share the ins and outs of tiny house life and document the products and ideas that help make it work.
Some of this process is downsizing, some of it is trial and error, and some of it is finding the right product for a very small space. I figure if I’m looking for something, someone else probably is too. I’m by no means an expert, but I do promise to share my thoughts honestly.
My husband and I moved into our 380-square-foot tiny house in April of 2025, though we had owned it for almost a year before that. Most of 2024 and early 2025 were spent preparing for the move—my husband tackling renovations while I focused on designing, imagining, and researching the products we’d need to make tiny living functional for us. I am definitely not a minimalist, so downsizing has been (and continues to be) a work in progress.
In late summer of this year, we found out we were expecting, which added a whole new layer to how we’ll use our small space. I’ve been doing lots of research and experimenting with what works, and I hope to share what I learn along the way.
One of the trickiest parts of downsizing is deciding what’s worth the square inches—and what isn’t. This has led me to measure everything and become surprisingly good at reading Amazon product descriptions. On this blog, I’ll often share the products we use and love, as well as the research I do to find items that truly earn their place in a tiny home.
Now for the “mildly crunchy” part of the name. I would love to say I’m fully crunchy—making my own sourdough, never buying convenience items, doing everything from scratch. The reality? I’m a little too distractible and impatient for that. Instead, we aim for what I call sustainably crunchy. We do what we can, when we can, where we can—without sweating the small stuff. That’s where “mildly crunchy” comes in.
Thank you for being here and joining me on this adventure. I’m excited to see what it turns into.
Stay a while!
